Review

Blue Jean Monster is what you would call a B movie, well we are guessing that from the fact that this movie is not serious. From start to finish the movie is pretty much cheesy. Also a modern day movie from 1990 so you have that good old retro 80`s feeling from Hong Kong which is always funny to see. The story is about a dead guy who is alive and all the stuff that happens when your trying to hide the fact that he is dead. We are putting this movie into horror section but its pretty much a fantasy comedy.

The characters are all pretty funny because of the retro 80`s attitude and look. In general the characters were pretty much *lame*, even the main character. The characters could've all died in the middle of the movie but it wouldn't have made a difference. The characters did more to amplify the cheesiness more than anything else.

There is some action in the movie, and then there is the overkill. You will understand the overkill if you see the movie, there was this robbery scene were you had a ton of senseless violence for no reason. Most of the movie is pretty calm in the way of action, you have a couple of gun fights here and there and one big scene at the end of the movie. But none of this really sticks out as *cool*. You will probably find the movie much more amusing for the extremely elaborate cheesiness. We found this movie very funny and it was not rare for us to say "what the f**k was that?". This movie should not be taken seriously and is almost better as a comedy than anything else. There was some serious humour in the film aswell but it didnt work very good.

The subtitles were decent except for some white on white but you did not have a problem following the general dialog of the movie. Why Blue Jean Monster? Why not, we are supposed to review all sorts of movies...well almost. We did not know what to expect but we knew this was not going to be a serious movie. It was fun to watch as we had a good laugh. This movie is more orientated toward those you like to watch B movies, if you never saw a Chinese movie before please do not watch this. Lots of people think Chinese cinema is all cheesy because of movies like this, so if you don't want a bad first impression avoid this movie.
