Ning Tsai-Shen (Leslie Cheung) is a roving tax collector that arrives in a small town but misfortune would have it that his tax documents are ruined. Having no money to pay for a room he stays at an old abandoned temple in the woods outside of town. That very night Ning Tsai-Shen encounters what he believes is a bandit, the swordsman Yen Che-Hsia (Wu Ma) who warms him that there is trouble in the area and that he should leave. Later that very night Ning is charmed by lovely music that is played by the beautiful Hsiao-Tsing (Joey Wang) who is in fact a ghost out to trick men and steal their life energy, the poor Ning quickly falls in love and a tale and danger and passion awaits him.

Along with a police officer and a journalist the four try to ruin the plans of the terrorists.

Chin, a man on the run because of a mistake he made in his hometown when he was young, in order to redeem himself he comes up with a plan to help is hometown. The town was recently robbed by the old police chief and when Chin shows up the new police chief suspects him of some wrong doing. Meanwhile a train filled with wealthy passengers is headed near the town but a group of robbers have their eye on what the train holds. Due to some misfortune everyone end up in the small town, the robbers, the passengers of the train, a bounty hunter, the old police chief who robbed the town and some Japanese guys. Chaos soon follows and Chin will try to save his home town with some help from some unlikely sources.

Deciding to stay overnight in a hotel, they smuggle the vampire and dead girl inside, only to find out that the girl’s lover, a local Policeman, is staying there. Master Wong is forced to fight the Americans to defend their culture and people.
