Nine year old Masao whom lives with his grandmother has always wondered what his mother is like since she left him with her grandmother at a young age in order to work at her new faraway job. One day during the summer Masao grows bored since all of his friends have gone on vacation and decides to finally set out and to visit his mother. While on the beginning of his travels he meets up with a couple that are friends with his grandmother. The wife decides to send her husband, known only as Mister to the audience, to escort Masao safely to his mother. The two main characters end up hitchhiking the entire way to Masao's Mother's house and have encounters with various yet interesting characters and events.

The defeated family joined up with the victorious family but Anaki did not wish to know anything about it. He decided to go to America and track down his younger brother who had gone to study there. He managed to tracked down his brother but he was surprised to see his brother had become a local drug dealer, within a few day Anaki gets involved and he is back to his old Yakuza ways and starts to rebuild his family.

Upon arrival he finds that Sawako’s mind was shattered from the failed suicide attempt and she is left with little more than a shadow of her former self. Nishi's first decision to solve his problem involves borrowing money from the local Yakuza but since he cannot pay the interest his last option is to masquerade as a police officer in order to rob a bank.

Some time in the new millennium Japan falls into economical decay, mass unemployment reigns in the country. With no clear future available, the student no longer respect school, violence increases due to riots and many students drop out of school. With the chaotic situation the government enacts the Battle Royale act, which consists of selected one of the poorest performing classes and sending off to an island where they must fight for survival and only one student can leave alive. The students have 3 days to complete the game or everyone dies due to explosive devices on their necks, they are given random weapons and the only rules to follow is avoid the danger zone and don't cause any trouble or the army will kill them. Mistrust, fear and hate run rampant and chaos spread among the students and they soon give in to the fight for survival.

The Shinsengumi Militia is in the process of selecting new recruits to join the samurai ranks. Those hoping to be accepted must face Soji Okita, the best fighter in the militia. By the end of the day only two of the hopefuls are accepted, Hyozo Tashiro a Samurai from the Kurume clan and Sozaburo Kano a young son of a rich merchant. Sozaburo quickly stands out due to his handsome yet slightly feminine looks, it quickly becomes apparent that Tashiro is in love with Kano. All of Tashiro's advances are refused by Kano but rumors quickly fly through the militia that Kano and Tashiro are lovers, soon many of the other men are making advances on Kano aswell. Eventually one of them is found dead and jealousy is suspected as a motive.

A mysterious young man is prowling around Tokyo. Wearing glasses that blur his vision and armed with a digital camera and a gun, this otaku who mane himself K, have a simple intention, to teach a lesson to those he feels deserve one. The gun that K carries has been modified to intentionally miss its target, which doesn't hurt the victim but give him the fright of his life. Hinano, a pure 17 years old girl who still tries to fit into her new life at working at a beauty parlor, lives with her elder brother who is a detective who presently works on the case of this mysterious man who scares people with his gun. On day, Hinano spots the unusual young man on a subway and decide to follow him. Right from their first meeting, the chemistry between them is undeniable. But as the relationship progress, K still continues his unusual behavior with his gun, but Hinano would prefer that he stop doing it before he get caught and especially because her brother is on his case.
