Shortly after the semester started at the St-George private school, a group of new students are given a tour of the schools hall of fame. There pictures of graduate students who have accomplished great deeds hung on the wall. One picture hung in the corner with only a name no deed or nothing, the group of students are mystified. They discover that this student was the best at everything but ended his own life at the school. Trying to find more information they decide to turn towards the supernatural and try to contact the spirit world in a ritual. After speaking with the spirits, they discover that the student was murdered and that the spirit is angry. A day later one of the students die and soon after panic spreads in the school.
303 is your typical teen screamer type flick, a thriller/horror very similar to popular releases in the US. This movie is one of the rare movies we have seen from Thailand, we heard of this movie because of its huge success in Thailand and decided to take a look at it. The story starts off slow and someone boring before the thrill elements kick in. We found a lot of the movie to be very predictable and thus the story to be not so interesting.
None of the characters were really interesting, in fact there were quite a few of asshole type characters which was kind of annoying. Your basically hoping for them to die off and when they do, a sort of a sense of satisfaction comes over you. The characters in this movie are basically generic and fit perfectly into the story but none of them stick out or add that extra little bit to the movie.
The first half of the movie is really slow, once the thriller elements start to kick in things start to move a bit. Most of the thriller elements are somewhat predictable so it takes away the kick of the effect. The last 20 min or so of the movie, things pretty much explode and is pretty much the most action part of the movie. Without revealing anything, the moving would probably never passed in the US because of the end part, its very reminiscent of school shootings.
The subtitles are good on the DVD version (not burned) and there is not too much dialog to follow. We were not impressed by 303, it is more of a matter of personal preference. The quality of the movie was very good but it was a type of movie we did not really enjoy. If you like mainstream American horror/thrillers like Scream, then you should like this movie.
The image quality (LTB) was surprisingly very good for an Ocean Shores release as for the sound it was a good Dolby digital 2.0. The extras are : Chapter Selection and a trailer of the movie. in general this is a very good Ocean Shores release release, unfortunalty we didnt enjoy the movie, but if you like it then get the DVD.
