Review

Accidental Spy is a high action movie Jackie Chan style, this time he goes all out. This movie is far more action based that his recent releases and is in a way going back to the style of his old action movies. The story is well thought out and yet again gets an ordinary fellow caught up in international espionage plots. The flow of the story is smooth and will keep you hooked, with a few interesting twists but the story is easy to follow.

The characters are pretty much like the characters in any other Jackie Chan movie, both the good guys and villains are pretty much stereotyped. There is little depth to any of the characters or any development or background. None of the characters really stick out and it could be said that yet again Jackie is playing himself as he is in most of the movies.

The movie is pretty much action from start to finish, of course with a few breaks to give a chance for Jackie to catch his breath. Seriously the action level of this movie is pretty impressive, from small hand to hand combat scenes to large scales chases with gun packing terrorists. The fight choreography is breathtaking to say in a word, they took a lot of time to plan everything out and in the end you have one hell of a stunning product. They took advantage of many of the scenic locations around Istanbul from roof tops to ancient market places. This movie is a wild ride that anyone can enjoy. The only downside of this movie is probably the absence of a real kung fu fight, the only fights that you have is Jackie Chan trying to avoid his enemies. If they would have put at least one big good fight (a la Who I'm I, remember the roof fight) this movie would probably have become a classic.

The subtitles are great of the DVD version and there isn't too much dialog to follow. Jackie Chan movies are generally good, you usually have a good and plenty of action. Accidental Spy is one polished product and is a general improvement over recent films from Jackie Chan. The movie is all good and not much more needs to be said. If you like action movies or Jackie Chan movie then check this out, its worth it.

What a DVD! The image quality (LTB) is almost perfect (it's a new Universe release!) and you have an excellent Dolby Digital 5.1 and even a DTS surround audio track. The DTS track is good, ok it's probably not as good as the DTS track of an American release such Saving Private Ryan or Terminator 2, but still the DTS was better than the 5.1 track. For the extra: Chapter selection, Stars files, Official Trailer, a 20 min. Making Of (no sub), 2 extra trailers: Lavender and Hit Team. If you like typical Jackie Chan movies, then you will probably enjoy this DVD.
